Sermons, 1710-1711.

Contemporary manuscript copy of 34 sermons by S.L. and D.T. written in 1710 and 1711. An index of the sermons precedes the text, and identifies each sermon according to the biblical verse discussed in it. Some verses are listed once in the index, although two different sermons on the verse can be found. Verse selection is almost equally distributed between Old and New Testaments with Psalms, Proverbs, the Gospels, and Hebrews well represented. The last four sermons are marked "for young men" and offer practical and spiritual advice. Sermon by Hugh Latimer, who was "burnt for ye Protistant Riligion at Oxford...in ye Riign of Popish Queen Mary." Delivered in 1548, this sermon is one in a series of "Sermons of the plow". Included with the sermon are two verses, which occured "about thi timi whin thi Lord Peterborrow and Sir John Leak raisid thi Siigi of Barcelona."
